About Me

I’m Karen Gershon, a visual storyteller and documentary-style photographer. I’m drawn to people, culture, rituals, family tables, markets and the quiet moments that sit just before and after the obvious ones. My work combines photographs and accompanying texts to tell stories about everyday life.

What I’m drawn to

– Everyday rituals: meals, holidays, the way families gather around a table
– People at work: disappearing professions, crafts and small businesses
– Markets and streets, where objects and strangers briefly share the same space
– Travel moments that feel honest rather than postcard-perfect

A bit of background

For many years I worked in hi tech companies, helping senior leaders shape messages, presentations and stories for large audiences. That work trained my eye to notice tone, detail and the way people react when a story lands well.

I was always an avid baker, and studied photography first and foremost to take photos for my baking business - but then I fell in love with photography.

So, joining images and texts to tell beautiful stories was the easy next step.
